Ingredients Needed

See the recipe card at the bottom of the post for all ingredients and quantities.

Cookies - You will take Oreo cookies and crush them into a fine sand-like texture. This is going to be the base for the crust.

Butter - Butter is going to help all the cookie crumbs hold shape and create a sliceable crust and in the pie filling to add a creamy texture and richness to your filling.

Cookies - You will use cookies for the filling and to decorate the top of the pie if you choose.

Cream Cheese - Let your cream cheese sit out for 30 minutes to an hour before you work with it, so it can soften up.

Granulated Sugar - A little sugar is needed to help sweeten up the pie filling.

Vanilla - The vanilla extract adds an aromatic element to the pie, that you wouldn't have otherwise.

Heavy Whipping Cream - You will use whipping cream to create your own whipped topping. This makes the pie ultra velvety and creamy.

Substitutions and Variations

  • Whipped Cream: Buy a tub of whipped cream to use like Cook Whip instead of making homemade whipped cream.
  • Flavor of Cookies: Want to change up the flavor of the pie? Use any flavor of cookies you would like.
  • S'mores Pie: Add in some mini marshmallows to the pie filling, and then top with some crushed graham crackers for flavors of a cookie s'mores pie.
  • Chocolate Chips: Reach for some mini chocolate chips to stir in the mixture for a nice crunch. Or use to decorate the top of the pie.
  • Peanut Butter: Add ¼th of a cup of peanut butter to the pie filling to make a peanut butter Oreo pie.
  • Hot Fudge or Caramel: Drizzle the top of the pie with hot fudge or even caramel or both for added flavors to this dessert.
  • Note: There are endless ways to change the flavor of this pie recipe. Those are just a few easy ideas. Feel free to make this pie any way you would like.

How to Make Oreo Pie

To start, add the cookies to the food processor to make the crust. Pulse until finely crumbled.

Add in the butter and mix to combine.

Press the crust into the pie plate, firmly pressing it down to ensure it is packed into the pan and the edges. Place in the fridge to set up.

For the filling, add 10 Oreos to the food processor again and make crumbs. Then, chop the other 10 Oreos coarsely with a knife. Set both aside.

Add cream cheese to a large bowl or stand mixer and mix on medium speed until it is creamy and free of clumps.

Four-step process of making a cookies and cream pie: mixing cream, adding crushed cookies, mixing in more cookies, and spreading the mixture into a crust.

Tips For Success

  • For this recipe, make sure to use brick-style cream cheese, not the tub. You need a thicker cream cheese so it will hold up once it sets up.
  • If you use a springform pan, it will be easy to remove the edges once the pie is set up and offer a prettier presentation value.
  • Garnish your pie any way you would like. Dollops of whipped cream, slices of cookies, etc.
  • Don't overmix the filling, or it can become dense instead of fluffy.
  • Firmly press the crust into the pan so that it holds shape and doesn't break apart when you go to slice.

Storing

This pie needs to be refrigerated until you are ready to serve. It will be stored for 3-5 days in the fridge in an airtight container or covered in plastic wrap.

You can also freeze the pie for 1-2 months. Just freeze the pie whole or in single slices. Wrap the pie in two layers of plastic wrap and a layer of heavy-duty aluminum foil. Thaw in the fridge overnight before you go to eat, or eat it straight from the freezer.
