Peppermint Fudge

You can make this peppermint fudge recipe in the microwave or if you want, reach for a double boiler to heat up the chocolate. Either route, this homemade mint fudge will blow your mind.

How to make peppermint fudge

Melt Chips | Add white chocolate chips and sweetened condensed milk in a microwave-safe container. Heat at 30-second intervals, stirring in between each heating cycle. Repeat until the chocolate chips are fully melted.

Candy and Extract | Once heated, add in ½ the crushed peppermints and the peppermint extract. Stir and pour into the pan.

Topping and Setting Up | Sprinkle on the remaining crushed peppermint candies. Then allow the fudge to set up in the pan!

How long will peppermint fudge last?

This white chocolate peppermint fudge can be stored for 2 weeks with proper storage. You just allow the fudge to fully set up. Then store in an airtight container or sealable bag on the counter. You can also store the fudge in the fridge if you would like.

The only downfall about the fudge in the fridge is it can soften the candies on top making them softer in texture. It will taste delicious.

Can you freeze peppermint fudge

Peppermint fudge can be stored in the freezer. Just place in the proper freezer container, and freeze for up to three months.

Then when you want a slice remove from the freezer, toss on the counter and let it thaw, then enjoy.

I enjoy pre-slicing the fudge, so I can remove a few pieces here and there for snacking. That way I don't have to thaw it and slice it all once frozen.

Can I substitute the white chocolate chips with chocolate chips?

If you prefer a classic milk or semi-sweet chocolate peppermint fudge, go right ahead. Just swap the white chocolate chips with your favorite chocolate chips.

Milk chocolate would be a sweet flavor. If you did semi-sweet it would amplify the richness, and pair well with the peppermint.

Does fudge double well?

Reach for a 9x13 pan to double this recipe. It will double nicely, you just have to reach for a larger bowl for mixing! If you like making Christmas treats this is a great addition to your Christmas tray.

Peppermint Fudge

Ingredients
  

  • 12 ounces white chocolate chips
  • cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 ½ cups crushed peppermint candies
  • ½ teaspoon peppermint extract

Instructions

  • Line an 8x8 square pan with tin foil and lightly coat with nonstick baking spray.
  • Pour the white chocolate chips and sweetened condensed milk into a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave the bowl for 30 seconds and stir to combine.
  • Place back in the microwave for 15-second intervals until everything melted. Stir after each interval until the chocolate chips and sweetened condensed milk is smooth and creamy.
  • Add the peppermint extract and half of the crushed peppermints to the melted chocolate and stir until the peppermints are evenly distributed.
  • Pour the fudge into the prepared pan.
  • Sprinkle the remaining peppermints on top of the fudge and lightly push the crushed peppermint into the fudge to make the pieces stick.
  • Cover and refrigerate for several hours to allow the fudge to firm up.
  • Slice and enjoy!
  • Cover and place in the fridge. Best enjoyed within a day or two as the peppermints become sticky after a few days.
