This crockpot candy is a must for Christmas! If you're more of a chocolate peanut butter lover, I have you covered as well with my Chocolate Peanut Butter Crockpot Candy.
Ingredients
See the recipe card at the bottom of the post for all ingredients and quantities.
- salted dry roasted peanuts - not only do you get the delicious peanuty flavor and crunch, but it adds a little salt to the very sweet clusters.
- almond bark - Chocolate almond bark is a must for this recipe. It gives the clusters a shiny appearance, a boost in chocolatey flavor, and helps the crockpot candy harden slightly quicker.
- chocolate chips - Semi-sweet, milk chocolate, and white chocolate chips are all tossed in this candy.
Substitutions and Variations
- The peanuts can be substituted with any other nuts or you can do mixed nuts as long as you keep the measurement the same.
- You can switch the chocolate almond bark with white chocolate bark.
- You can mix and match your chocolate chips however you like just keep the measurements the same.
- Add-ins Galore. You can add toffee bits, crushed peppermint candy, M&M's, etc once the chocolate is melted. Don't overdo the amount though, I would start with about ½ cup.
NOTE: This recipe has not been tested with other substitutions or variations
How To Make Crockpot Candy
- Add all of the ingredients into a 6 qt slow cooker.
- Stir the ingredients until evenly distributed. Turn on low and let the chocolate melt for about 1 hour to 1 hour 15 minutes, stirring every 15 to 20 minutes until the chocolate is smooth.
- Scoop the nut clusters out using a cookie scoop.
- Place the clusters about an inch apart on a parchment lined baking sheet.
- If you want to add sprinkles or flaked salt, now is the time. Let the candy set up.
- Place in an airtight container or storage bag at room temperature.
TIP: You may need to cook longer than 1 hour if you have more chocolate or did not cut the chocolate bark into pieces.
How to Store/Freeze
Store the clusters at room temperature or in the fridge for up to 2 weeks. Store in an airtight container placing a parchment paper between each layer.
You can also freeze crockpot candy. Pop the candy in a freezer-safe container or in freezer bags. Place in the freezer and freeze up to a year. Thaw in the fridge overnight or at room temperature.
