Ingredients for Oreo Dump Cake

See the recipe card at the bottom of the post for all ingredients and quantities.

  • Whole Oreos - The bottom layer of this cake is formed by whole Oreos.
  • Milk Chocolate Chips - Semi-sweet chocolate chips work just as well but will be less sweet and milky.
  • Heavy Whipping Cream - Adds a delicious creaminess to the dessert. A lot of recipes call for sweetened condensed milk, but I find it to cloying and richly sweet. Its just too much.
  • Fudge Brownie Mix - A chocolate cake mix works too.
  • Crushed Oreos - Either pulse these in a food processor or throw them in a plastic baggy and use a good old-fashioned rolling pin. Both methods work. These are used for the top.
  • Melted Butter - The secret to any good dump cake is in the application of the butter.

How to Make an Oreo Dump Cake

One of the best things about this recipe is that you don't really have to do any mixing. Just take a handful of store-bought ingredients (six total) and spread them out in a pan. Then bake the dish and watch it transform into a cohesive dessert your guests will love.

A four-step baking process for an Oreo Dump Cake: whole cookies in a tray (1), cookies with chocolate chips added (2), mixture partially melted (3), and fully melted with chocolate pooling (4).

Step 1: Grease your 9x13 pan with some non-stick spray and preheat your oven so it is good and hot. This is the best way to start any baked dessert-making venture! Next, cover the bottom of the baking pan with Oreos. You'll want six rows of four Oreos.

Step 2: Sprinkle the chocolate chips on and between the cookies.

Step 3: Pour the heavy whipping cream all over the surface evenly.

Step 4: Sprinkle the dry brown mix evenly on top of the cookies, chocolate chips, and heavy cream. Pour the melted butter over the brownie mix and try to cover every bit of brownie mix with butter if possible. For a finishing touch, sprinkle the top with crushed Oreos.

Step 5: Bake your dump cake for forty-five minutes. Let it cool for twenty minutes. Then serve it plain, with whipped cream or with ice cream. It can also be eaten at room temperature or chilled and will firm up completely more like a bar.
