About Miranda

Hi! I’m Miranda. I’m a proud mom to Lucian, wife to Wesley, and chief dessert enthusiast at Cookie Dough and Oven Mitt, my little blog corner on the internet since February 2013.

MY STORY

Once upon a time I was headed toward a career in court reporting (yep, the shorthand-and-steno kind), but life had other plans. I traded in the slacks and transcripts for mixing bowls and baking sheets.

While staying at home and taking care of my son, I became a self-taught baker, a food photographer, and a recipe creator who’s on a mission to show everyone how fun and doable baking can really be.

I live in the foothills of the Catskill Mountains in New York and visit north-central Pennsylvania often (my roots are there). You can find me in my kitchen regularly baking up a storm or cheering from the stands at Lucian’s soccer games.

Why you should stick around

Every recipe I create is meant to feel approachable, comforting, and a little bit nostalgic. I put my heart into my recipes in both creating it and photographing it. I love to create new unique recipes like my apple cider snaps, apple peanut butter crumble, and these super popular pineapple upside down sugar cookies, but I also share recipes that have been passed down and the tried and true classics.

WHAT I DO

  • I create simple yet season dessert recipes that anyone can make.
  • I photograph the process and results in hopes of helping anyone with questions while they create the recipe
  • I blog about baking with a gardener’s heart and an animal lover’s soul because when I’m not icing cupcakes I’m digging in the dirt or helping a furry friend in need.

fun facts

  • My favorite flavors are chocolate and peanut butter.
  • My favorite foods are steak and cheesecake.

  • We only have one child and don’t have plans on having any more.
  • I appreciate every single one of you that have come here to learn more about me!
