Ingredients
9
medium (2.5 lbs) gala apples
peeled, cored, and chopped
¼
cup
granulated sugar
pinch
fine sea salt
1
teaspoon
fresh lemon juice
¾
cup
unsweetened apple juice
1
teaspoon
ground cinnamon
Instructions
Add the chopped apples to the inner pot of the Instant Pot.
Add in sugar, salt, lemon juice, and apple juice. Stir until the sugar is well combined.
Put the lid on the pressure cooker and set it to manual high for 5 minutes. Allow for a quick pressure release.
For smooth applesauce
Allow apples to cool.
Add the apples to a food processor or use a stick blender to process/blend until completely smooth.
For chunky applesauce
Mash with a potato masher until the applesauce is to a chunky consistency you're happy with.
Add the ground cinnamon to the applesauce and stir until combined.
Let cool to room temperature if you opted for chunky applesauce.
Cover with plastic wrap and store in the fridge.
Notes
The applesauce will keep fresh in the refrigerator for one week.
