Halloween Bark

Halloween Bark

Today I made for the first time halloween bark. My husband said, "what did you call it?" I repeated myself and then I received a blank stare in return. He didn't understand the concept at all. It's okay though, because I got the same blank stare from my mom. I gave up on the explanation of it and decided to go the just eat it route. It worked.

Mom was sure to tell me she wasn't sure about the saltine cracker on the bottom of my bark, but I think it was just new to her. Some people just can't handle new things. I love trying new baking things, but that's the extent of it. I think I was conditioned into being like this. I just can't resist my creative juices when it comes to baking though. Any other changes in my life put me in turmoil for weeks.

I think I'll try this recipe again with either club crackers or Ritz crackers. I'm undecided yet, but I think they would be heavenly. Sweet and salty, sweet and spicy, anything along those lines are right up my alley. I had to beat the hubs down for my Oreo cookies to make it to this recipe. The hubs, that's a new blog nickname for him. I'm digging it.

I don't believe I said this earlier, but as I'm writing this I'm waiting for my best friend in the whole word to call me on Skype so I can watch her and her love get married. She wanted to get hitched on her parent's anniversary which happens to be on a Thursday this year. Being that I'm so far away, we're managing with this Skype business. I just can't barely stand the wait and I'm just the internet Skype stalker. I can only imagine how Carrie, the lovely bride, feels.

  • 12 oz. white chocolate almond bark
  • 12 saltine crackers
  • 6-8 Halloween Oreo cookies coarsely chopped
  • ½ cup candy corn
  • festive sprinkles

Instructions

  • Line an 8x8 square pan with parchment paper. If you don't have an 8 inch pan, you can lay your crackers on parchment paper without a pan.
  • Place saltines in the pan.
  • Heat the white chocolate in a microwave safe bowl, for 30 second intervals. It should take 2-3 intervals to melt the chocolate completely.
  • Add in the Oreo cookies, candy corn, and sprinkles. Top the pan on the counter to help sink the candy and cookies down.
  • Let the candy set up. Break it apart and eat.

  1. Hello! First off what can be wrong with candy corn, it's so happy looking!! I made this last night and brought to work, it is a HIT! Thank you! They do not know that I didn't print the recipe, so I did not have the correct quantity of cookies or almond bark. It has CANDY CORN that's all they needed to know.
