Candy Corn Popcorn Balls

These Candy Corn Popcorn Balls are a vibrant orange color and coated with a creamy candy corn glaze. They're sticky but aren't chewy like traditional popcorn balls. They make a great treat to make for your kids this Halloween.

What are Candy Corn Popcorn Balls?

I made them up for a fun but different Halloween Popcorn Ball Recipe. They're basically balls of popcorn stuck together by melted candy corn and heavy cream.

I've always loved popcorn and candy corn together and would get a goodie bag filled with both Halloween growing up.

Candy Corn Popcorn Ball Ingredients

  • 1 bag of extra butter popcorn - that's been popped and unpopped kernels have been removed. This makes for the perfect sweet and salty popcorn ball.
  • candy corn - I like the traditional candy corn, but you can use any flavor you prefer.
  • heavy cream - This helps make the candy corn runny so it can easily coat the popcorn.

How to Make Candy Corn Popcorn Balls

Begin by preparing 12 cups of popcorn. I love the extra butter bagged popcorn. Pour the popcorn into a large bowl and throw out any unpopped pieces.

Either melt the candy corn and heavy cream in a microwave-safe bowl or in a double boiler.

Once the candy corn is completely melted, pour it over top of the popcorn. Quickly stir until the popcorn is thoroughly coated.

Butter your hands or oil them and begin squeezing the popcorn into balls.

How should I store these popcorn balls?

Wrap them in plastic wrap. They should be fine at room temperature for up to 2 days, but you can play it safe and refrigerate them because of the heavy cream.

I do recommend trying to eat them up the day they're made though.

How long will these Halloween Popcorn Balls last?

They can last several days but are at their best quality the first day. They can become soft over time.

What else can I add to this recipe?

You can add festive sprinkles, M&M's, and extra candy corn to them.

Can I use the pumpkin candies instead of candy corn?

I haven't tried them, but I would assume they would melt down the same way as candy corn but may take a little longer. Also, green and orange tend to make a brown so the color might be a little less desirable or more desirable depending on what you like.

The measurements could be slightly off too so take that into consideration.

    1. Good question! I haven't tried a dairy-free version but maybe a thickened coconut milk or even coconut cream would work.
